A big thank you to all those that actually made it on our foray to Oakham. Despite the incorrect address resulting in many locals being accosted for directions, no opposition for a while, no pitch allocated or marked out and the coldest wind of the year so far I think it was safe to say the outing was a resounding success.
We actually outnumbered Oakham 1.6 to 1 and were far braver in the bitter cold morning than our opposition. We learnt that our skills are as good as any other team we have met and that tagging with mittens on is rather difficult to do. We also learnt that tagging without mittens on gives us cold digits.
Stars of the week were Rafe and Sammy who were sub'd each time they scored a try but still wanted to score more! A big thanks also to our U6 ringer, Toby - he was good and we hope to have him playing for us again!
Sunday sees us at Nottinghamians which is on the left side as you go into the Water Sports Centre, off Adbolton Lane as our clubhouse is not yet fit for human habitation. The session is planned to last for an hour (10.30 - 11.30) with a fuddle of some description afterwards, anyone with any spare biscuits or cakes please bring them down for all to share. There will be beverages both hot and cold available too. Anybody who wishes to adorn festive clothing, partake in millenery and the like will be welcomed.
I don't think there is a session planned for 4th January but I will let you know in the next update.
See you Sunday - if you can find it!
